Risk Definitions

Some definitions

Note that this article will typically update as time goes on. However, I plan to put some of the common definitions associated with risk here.

• Vulnerability - a weakness in a system
• Threat - a set of circumstances that has the potential to cause loss or harm. Note this doesn’t have to be malicious, a tornado wiping out your data center is also a threat.
• Risk - the possibility of a threat exploiting a vulnerability resulting in a loss.
